Pastor Craven Engel, founder of Ceasefire explains how the shot-spotter system that they use to locate and record gunshots, on June 30, 2016, in Hanover Park, an impoverished and gang-ridden suburb, about 15 Km from the centre of Cape Town. The Ceasefire organisation, which uses a model developed in the USA, trains former gangsters to ‚interrupt‘ violent conflicts between rival gangs in Hanover park, and introduce tools and options that gangs can use to settle grieviences, non violently.
